Dhaka, 18 October 2023: Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) proudly marked the 59th birthday of Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, with a series of commemorative events on October 18, 2023. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Sheikh Russel: A Symbol of Brilliance, Fearlessness, Serenity, and Impregnability.” The occasion witnessed enthusiastic participation from both military and civilian students, instructors, and staff from all departments and wings of MIST. The day commenced with a solemn tribute paid to Sheikh Russel’s portrait in the “Sheikh Russel Courtyard” located within the MIST Library. It was followed by a day filled with sports and competitions organized by both faculty and students. Furthermore, a thought-provoking panel discussion involving students, faculty, and staff highlighted the significance of this day. Eminent educationist and writer Dr. Muhammed Zafar Iqbal was also in attendance as a special guest at this remarkable event. The observance of Sheikh Russel Day at MIST has always been marked with dignity and respect, but this year, under the active patronage and leadership of Commandant Major General Mohammed Saidul Islam, rcds, ndc, psc, a heightened level of enthusiasm and fervor was evident throughout all facets of the celebration.
