Dhaka, 12 Dec 2024: The President Parade (Winter)-2024, marking the commissioning of No 85 BAFA (Bangladesh Air Force Academy) Course, Direct Entry-2024B and SPSSC-2024B of Bangladesh Air Force, was held at BAF Academy in Jashore on Thursday (12 December 2024).
Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, BBP, OSP, GUP, nswc, psc attended the ceremony as Chief Guest. He reviewed the smartly turned-out parade and took salute at the impressive march past. He handed over trophies and flying badges among the Graduating Officer Cadets.
Officer Cadet Jannatul Ferdous Mohona was presented with the coveted ‘‘Sword of Honour’’ for the best all round performance, Officer Cadet Md. Rahmat Ullah Shishir received “Birsreshto Matiur Rahman Trophy” for the best performance in Flying Training and Officer Cadet Md. Fahim Morshed Ratul was presented “Commandants Trophy” for the best performance in General Service Training in No 85 BAFA Course. Officer Cadet Md. Fahim Morshed Ratul received “Chief of Air Staff Trophy” for the best all round performance in No 85 BAFA Course amongst the Ground Branch Officer Cadets. Mentionable that, in this Winter Semester Bir Uttam Badrul Alam Squadron was adjudged the Champion Squadron and was accorded Academy colour.
The chief guest, Chief of the Air Staff, Bangladesh Air Force started his speech by showing his deep respect to the heroic freedom fighters who made supreme sacrifice for the freedom of Bangladesh. At the same time, he remembered the members of Kilo Flight who paved the way for sovereign and independent Bangladesh. He added, the interim government established by the student uprising is determined to build a new Bangladesh without discrimination. He also mentioned about the ongoing efforts to maintain the economic stability and development by dealing with various complex issues. Bangladesh Armed Forces, specially, Bangladesh Air Force have played a historic role by standing beside the people at this critical juncture of the country. The supporting role played by the patriotic members of the Air Force in the interest of the people of the country in various important national issues is unforgettable. Specially in last August-September months, the fearless airmen of Bangladesh Air Force stood by the flood victims with professionalism and humanity, which is an expression of pure patriotism. He uttered with pride that the present government is working tirelessly to make the Bangladesh Air Force stronger. He also mentioned that maintaining law and order inside the country, maintaining world peace, managing disaster relief and sending humanitarian aids in other countries are the reflection of competency and professionalism of Bangladesh Air Force. He recognized the Air Force Academy’s training as world class, which attracted trainees from different friendly countries. Finally, he wished the newly commissioned officers success and thanked all the members of Bangladesh Air Force Academy.
Total 74 Officer Cadets including 12 Female Officer Cadets were commissioned during the parade. Officer Cadet Academy Senior Under Officer Asif Mahmud commanded the parade. The parade was followed by a spectacular fly past of different aircrafts, wonderful aerobatic display and para jump by the skilled paratroopers of BAF. Among other guests, civil and military high officials, local dignitaries and guardians of the newly commissioned officers were present in the ceremony.
