Dhaka: Dr. Dipu Moni, MP, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Education handed over certificates and medals to the new graduates of Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) as the Chief Guest on the occasion of 18th Graduation Ceremony on 27 January 2020. At the preamble of the ceremony, she paid special tribute to the architect of the independence, the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and recalled with reverence, the sacrifice of martyrs during liberation war of 1971 and great language movement in 1952.
While speaking at the graduation ceremony, Hon’ble Education Minister congratulated all the graduating students of the twelve departments of MIST for their successful completion of academic tenure. She urged upon all to ensure maximum utilization of merit and competence for the development of the country with utmost patriotism, honesty and sincerity. She wished for unswerving success to all. Besides study, she urged all students to be empathetic to their parents, teachers and the common people of Bangladesh.
The Hon’ble Education Minister also emphasized on focusing higher education through hard work to fulfill the dream of prosperous Bangladesh. She also expressed the hope that the graduates of MIST will devote themselves to fulfill the aspirations of the nation.
The Hon’ble Education Minister expressed her appreciation and satisfaction for achieving widespread reputation and circulation of MIST with relentless effort of all concern within a short span of time. She specially expressed her felicitation to the three Chiefs of Armed Forces, Council of MIST, Academic Council, Commandant and all members of MIST for their outstanding contributions to bring MIST into the level of “Centre of Excellence” and reiterated the assured support of the Ministry of Education in the days to come.
A total no of 481 students completed their graduation in this year. Amongst them 418 were civil and 63 military students. BA-7889 Maj Md Ziaul Islam, Engrs of Civil Engineering Department was awarded Osmany Memorial Gold Medal for outstanding academic performance.
Among others Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed, Chief of Navel Staff Admiral Aurangzeb Chowdhury, Assistant Chief of Air Staff Air Vice Marshal M Abul Bashar, Principal Staff Officer Lt General Md Mahfuzur Rahman, Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Abdullah Al Mahsin Choudhury, Maj Gen Md Emdad-Ul-Bari, Major General Md Wahid-Uz-Zaman were Present on the occasion.
