Chattogram, 01 November 2020: Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, BBP, OSP, ndu, psc awarded ‘Bangladesh Air Force Colour’ to 74 Squadron BAF at Bangladesh Air Force Base Zahurul Haque, Chattogram on Sunday (01-11-2020).
On his arrival Chief of Air Staff was cordially received by Air Officer Commanding of BAF Base Zahurul Haque Air Vice Marshal A S M Fakhrul Islam, GUP, ndc, afwc, psc.
During the colour award ceremony, Chief of Air Staff witnessed the parade at Bangladesh Air Force Base Zahurul Haque. The parade was commanded by Officer Commanding of 74 Squadron Wing Commander Arshadul Islam Khan.
The Chief of Air Staff handed over the ‘Bangladesh Air Force Colour’ to 74 Squadron in a colourful ceremony.
Later, he took part in a special munajat offering for the preservation of Bangladesh Air Force Colour.
In his speech, the Chief of Air Staff paid homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Addressing the members of Bangladesh Air Force at all levels, he said that the nation will forever remember the courageous contribution of Bangladesh Air Force members in the Liberation War. He further mentioned that the radar deployed in the 74 Squadron of BAF has been playing an important role in the country’s air defense by monitoring all aircraft and missiles flying under the radar range and providing early warning signals of enemy air attack.
Chief of Air Staff thanked all members of 74 Squadron for achieving prestigious ‘Bangladesh Air Force Colour’ and advised them to uphold the honour, dignity and pride of BAF Colour. Among others, Principle Staff Officers and other members of Bangladesh Air Force were present on the occasion.
Mentionable that Bangladesh Air Force has been performing various duties at national and international arena with great reputation and efficiency. BAF Base Zahurul Haque has been a regular and important contributor to all these responsibilities. In addition to the usual routine activities, the Base has been ensuring Air Defence of south eastern part of Bangladesh, providing necessary support to Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy and other Forces, participating in disaster management and assisting civil administration. As the recognition of those activities No.74 Squadron received the prestigious BAF Colour.
