Dhaka, 29 November 2023: The Graduation Ceremony of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) Course-2023 was held on 29 December (Wednesday) 2023 at Sheikh Hasina Complex Auditorium, DSCSC, Mirpur Cantonment, Dhaka.
The Honourable President Mohammed Shahabuddin, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and gave away certificates (psc) to the graduating officers. The ceremony is a testament to the commitment of the DSCSC to fostering international collaboration and enhancing the strategic acumen of military leaders. The Honourable President began by expressing his deepest respect for Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation, and the Greatest Bengali of all time. After giving away certificates to the recipients, the Honourable President congratulated all the graduates on their successful completion of the course. He advised them to apply their newly acquired wisdom, resolve, and zeal to the advancement of their respective nations. Additionally, he thanked Commandant DSCSC for seeing the successful completion of DSCSC Course-2023.
The Commandant, DSCSC, Maj Gen Md Faizur Rahman, BSP, SGP, ndc, afwc, psc, delivered his welcome address at the beginning of the ceremony. He expressed his profound gratitude to the Honourable President for his gracious presence in the ceremony and for his continued assistance in the advancement of the college and the professional development of the armed forces. In his remarks, the Commandant mentioned that the togetherness, bonding, brotherhood, and knowledge forged through the course, will enable the graduating officers to command an armada of a modern joint force.
Overall, 257 officers completed the DSCSC-2023 course this year, comprising 136 officers from the Bangladesh Army, 45 from the Bangladesh Navy, 24 from the Bangladesh Air Force, 03 from the Bangladesh Police, and 49 foreign officers from 24 friendly nations, namely Brunei, Egypt, Germany, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Liberia, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Türkiye, Uganda, USA, and Zambia. It is noteworthy that this year has seen the graduation of 12 female officers.
Defence Services Command and Staff College is an internationally recognized tri-service training facility of Bangladesh Armed Forces. The institution trains selected mid-level officers of the three services to enable them to handle growing responsibilities in staff and command capacities. To date, a total of 6,236 officers have graduated from this reputed institution. Among them, 4,872 officers were from the Bangladesh Armed Forces, 14 officers from the Bangladesh Police, and 1,350 officers from 44 friendly foreign countries.
Among others, Ambassadors/High Commissioners, Chiefs of three Services, Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division, Senior Military and Civil Services Officers (both serving and retired), Vice Chancellors and Professors of various universities, Defence Advisers and Attaches from various countries in Bangladesh including local elites attended the graduation ceremony.
