Jashore, December 26: The President Parade of 76 BAFA (Bangladesh Air Force Academy) Course and Direct Entry 2019 Course of Bangladesh Air Force was held at Jashore, BAF Academy on Thursday (26-12-2019).
Honourable Prime Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina attended the ceremony as Chief Guest. She took salute at the impressive march past and handed over trophy, certificates and flying badges among the cadets.
Officer Cadet Mahim Malik was presented with the coveted ‘Sword of Honour’ for his best all round performance in No 76 BAFA Course and Officer Cadet Ahnaf Fahim received ‘Birsreshto Matiur Rahman Trophy’ for his best performance in Flying Training in No 76 BAFA Course. Officer Cadet Zarin Tasnim received ‘Chief of Air Staff Trophy’ for his best all round performance in No 76 BAFA Course (Ground Branch). Officer Cadet Sifat Hasan Alam was presented ‘Commandants Trophy’ for his best performance in General service Training in No 76 BAFA Course. No 2 Squadron was adjudged the Champion Squadron and was accorded Academy colour.
In her address the Honourable Prime Minister said that a professional and modern Air Force is essential for retaining the independence and safeguarding the sovereignty of any nation. Present government has taken various steps to modernize our Air Force. She also expressed the recent development activities of Bangladesh Air Force by this government. Honourable Prime Minister paid rich tributes to the Greatest Bengali of all ages, Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and remembered his contribution with gratitude in development of Bangladesh Air Force.
Total 104 Officer Cadets including 30 Female Officer Cadets were commissioned this time. Officer Cadet Academy Under Officer Sifat Hasan Alam commanded the parade.
Among others, Chief of Army Sttaf General Aziz Ahmed, SBP, BSP, BGBM, PBGM, BGBMS, psc, G, Chief of Naval Sttaf Admiral A M M M Aurangzeb Chowdhury, NBP, OSP ,BCGM, PCGM, BCGMS, ndc, psc, Members of Parliament and civil and military high officials, diplomats of Foreign Missions in Bangladesh, local dignitaries and guardians of the Officer Cadets were present on the occasion.
Earlier, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, BBP, OSP, ndu, psc and Commandant BAF Academy Air Commodore Haider Abdullah, ndc, fawc, psc received Honourable Prime Minister on her arrival at Bangladesh Air Force Academy Parade Ground.
