Dhaka, 27 October: – The newly constructed VVIP Complex at Tejgaon Air Movement Flight of Bangladesh Air Force has been inaugurated on Saturday (27-10-2018) at Tejgaon Old Airport, Dhaka. Hon’ble Prime Minister Govt of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the VVIP Complex as the chief guest.
Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, BBP, OSP, ndu, psc welcomed the Chief Guest at the ceremony. The Hon’ble Chief Guest unveiled the foundation stone of the VVIP Complex and took part in a special Munajat. She also signed the visitors’ book.
Among others, Ministers, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, Principal Staff Officer of Armed Forces Division, Defence Secretary and other Military & Civil High officials were present on the occasion.
The Chief Guest greeted all the members of BAF in her speech and recalled many reminiscences of Bangabandhu and his family in connection with this Airport. While pointing out the importance of this airfield in regards to the whole Nation and BAF, the Hon’ble Prime Minister mentioned that this airfield played an important role while carring out relief operation after 1998 flood. She directed BAF to maintain and increase operational activities from this airfield keeping the importance of airfield in mind.
In her speech, the Hon’ble Prime Minister also gave assurance for taking steps to build a modern Air Force. Later, the Hon’ble Chief Guest visited the newly constructed complex.
Mentionable that, Tejgaon Air Movement Flight and VVIP Complex bear the testimony of many historical events of Bangladesh. On 10th January 1972, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman landed at this Airport for the first time in Independent Bangladesh after returning from Pakistan.
