Dhaka, 07 June 2022 (Tuesday): Qatar Armed Forces Chief Lieutenant General (Pilot) Salem Hamad Al-Akil Al-Nabet arrived Dhaka yesterday (06-6-2022) on a three-day visit in response to an invitation by Bangladesh Army Chief General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed, SBP, OSP, ndu, psc, PhD. General Salem paid a courtesy call to the Army Chief today (07-6-2022) and expressed his gratitude for the invitation, which was extended by General Shafiuddin during his visit to Qatar on occasion of BIMDEX exhibition in March this year.
During the meeting both the Chiefs discussed about the growing relationship of the forces and about potential areas of cooperation. Later, a presentation on Bangladesh Army was offered to the delegation at the Army Headquarters. General Salem greatly appreciated the high level of preparedness, excellent standard of training, startling role in peacekeeping and the overall affairs of Bangladesh Army. The General also hinted on the possibilities of employing Bangladesh Army personnel in Qatar similar to those in Kuwait. The delegation has expressed interest in training-exchange and about Army band for the World Cup football inauguration in Doha. Prior to this, a smart contingent of Bangladesh Armed Forces offered him guard of honour.
Later Lieutenant General Salem met with Major General (Retd) Tariq Ahmed Siddiqui, rcds, psc, Security Adviser to the honourable Prime Minister. He also called-on the Chiefs of Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Forces.
Last evening, the Qatar delegation attended a banquet dinner, which was arranged in honour of General Salem by Bangladesh Army Chief. It was followed by a spectacular cultural program. His excellency Mr. Seraya Ali Al-Qahtani, the ambassador of the State of Qatar, and senior officers of Qatar and Bangladesh Armed Forces were present in the event.
Tomorrow, General Salem is going to grace the Bangladesh Military Academy passing out parade as the Chief Guest. He will witness and review this prestigious President Parade of 82nd BMA Long Course. The General has expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Army Chief for this esteemed invitation. The visiting General has commented this visit to be a fruitful one, which has advanced the existing good relationship between the two countries that will pave the way for future cooperation. The delegation is scheduled to depart for Qatar on Wednesday afternoon.
