Lalmonirhat, 23 June:- The opening ceremony of 06 days long combined exercise between Bangladesh Air Force and US Pacific Air Force “Exercise Pacific Angel-2019-1” was held on Sunday (23-06-2019) at Lalmonirhat Kadamtola High School.
Air Officer Commanding of Bangladesh Air Force Base Birsreshto Matiur Rahman Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Nazrul Islam, BSP, nswc, afwc, psc inaugurated the exercise as the Chief Guest. Area Commander & Superintendent of Police and other dignitaries of Lalmonirhat were present on the occasion.
250 members of BAF under the command of Group Captain Abbas Ali, GUP, afwc, psc, GD(P) and 100 members of US Pacific Air Force under the command of Major Christofer Falmer are participating in the exercise. Besides, 06 doctors from Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand are also taking part in the exercise.
In the exercise, 2000 people living adjacent to the BAF Maintenance and Care Unit, Lalmonirhat are being provided with free medical treatment along with knowledge on post disaster medical care. The engineers from both the countries are providing assistance in renovating and repairing of damaged and weak structure of selected 05 schools of that area.
Earlier, a seminar was held at conference room of RDRC in Lalmonirhat with effect from 19-20 June 19 in relates to Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) program. In the seminar, heads of different government and non-government organizations of Lalmonirhat and Rangpur districts, specialists of BAF and US Pacific Air Force gave presentation on medical treatment and health care which are required to be addressed in post disaster situation.
It is expected that the exercise will enhance mutual cooperation between military and civil organisations as well as strengthen friendly relationship between armed forces of both the countries.
