Dhaka, 24 July: Hon’ble Prime Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina inaugurated Bangladesh Navy and Air Force Selection Board-2022 through video teleconference on Sunday (24-07-2022) from Ganabhaban. Inauguration ceremony of the Selection Board was held at Naval Headquarters and Air Headquarters. Through this board Navy and BAF will select qualified and professional officers for their assignment on higher appoinments subject to the approval of the Government.
During inauguration, Hon’ble Prime Minister conveyed her valuable guidance to the members of the Selection Board. She emphasized on high moral values, discipline and leadership of the officers in practical aspect as well as on ground performance. Hon’ble Prime Minister advised to select competent and professional officers who will take the lead in maintaining the image of Navy and BAF in national and international arena. She expects that these newly promoted officers would serve Navy and BAF and the nation with more enthusiasm and efficiency. Decision will be taken for Promotion of Naval officers from Captain to Commodore, Commander to Captain and Lieutenant Commander to Commander.
BAF will select Officers for Promotion to Air Commodore from Group Captain, Group Captain from Wing Commander and Wing Commander from Squadron Leader.
Earlier, Chief of Navy Admiral M Shaheen Iqbal expressed his sincere thanks to Hon’ble Prime Minister for his gracious presence at the Navy Selection Board. In his welcome speech, he paid tribute to the greatest Bengali father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all the brave warriors who sacrificed their lives in the great liberation war. The Chief of Naval Staff thanked the Hon’ble Prime Minister for the steps taken to modernize the Navy during the current government. The Chief of Naval Staff thanked the Hon’ble Prime Minister for his personal involvement and guidance in selecting the future leadership of the Armed Forces which has boosted the morale of all naval personnel. Finally, the Chief of Naval Staff expressed that by following the valuable guidance of the Honorable Prime Minister, Bangladesh Navy will make an important contribution in the formation of Sonar Bangla, the dream of the father of the nation, by selecting competent, honest and advanced leaders.
Later, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan, BBP, BUP, nswc, fawc, psc in his directive to the board members reiterated the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister and assured their strict compliance in selecting the future leaders of BAF. Principal Staff Officers of Air Headquarter, Air Officer Commanding of different Air Force Bases and other Air Officers were present in the Board. The Selection Board-2022 is scheduled to end on Wednesday (27-07-2022).
