Dhaka 17 October 2019: The closing ceremony of 03 days long “Basic Assistance and Protection Course for Responders-1 (BAPCOR-1)”, was organized for capacity building of chemical incident/accident and disaster management related personnel at the Armed Forces Division on Thursday (17-10-2019).Lieutenant General Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Chairman, Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC) and Principal Staff Officer, Armed Forces Division was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony. At the end of the ceremony, chief guest distributed certificates among the participants.
Total 44 officers (Resource personnel and participants) from different ministries, Armed Forces, Fire Service & Civil Defence, Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP attended the course.
The subject training was held from 15 to 17 October 2019 at Armed Forces Division. Practical part of the training was held at Fire Service and Civil Defence station, Purbachal, Dhaka. Participants learned theoretical and practical lessons on identification of chemical warfare agent, emergency response tools, personal protective equipment, emergency rescue system for chemical incident/accident and medical management of chemical casualties.
Chief guest conveyed his thanks to Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention for organizing the training programme and to Fire Service and Civil Defence for providing necessary assistance. He expressed his hope that, this programme will play an important role to enhance the capacity of responders to combat chemical incident/accident. He also emphasized on the necessity to conduct such training course for capacity building of responders in future.
Mentionable that, Civil and military high officials from Armed Forces, Bangladesh Police, Fire Service & Civil Defence, related ministries and subject related professors from reputed public universities were present at the ceremony.
