Dhaka, April 20:- A C-130J transport aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force left Dhaka for Maldives on Monday (20-04-2020) with 71 Maldivians and a 10 member Armed Forces Medical Team for providing COVID-19 related treatment to Bangladeshi nationals in Maldives. Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations) Air Vice Marshal M Abul Bashar, BBP, OSP, ndc, acsc, psc, Ms Aishath Shaan Shakir, Ambassador, Maldivian Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh were present on the occasion. The mission consisting of a 15 BAF Air Crew was led by Group Captain Enamul Haque GD(P) of Bangladesh Air Force. Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, BBP, OSP, ndu, psc provided necessary guidance to carry out the mission.
In compliance with the policies published by the Government, Bangladesh Armed Forces is conducting various activities under the direction of Honourable Prime Minister to prevent coronavirus. In line with this, A BAF C-130J transport aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force transported 71 Maldivians from Dhaka to Maldives as a sign of friendship on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh. Mentionable that those people of Maldives were unable to return to their country because of the coronavirus situation. Those Maldivians were assembled in Dhaka from Chattogram, Barisal, Cumilla and Chandpur by BAF transport aircraft and helicopters. Bangladesh Army also co-operated for Dhaka area in this regard before sending them to their own country. It is to be noted that among those Maldivians, there were 18 people were living in Nepal. Bangladesh Government decided to send these students to Maldives with the help of the Air Force as a sign of friendly relations with the Maldives government.
Besides, an Armed Forces Medical Team with the necessary healthcare aids was sent to the Maldives to provide medical care to Bangladeshis living in the Maldives. The members of the medical team will provide medical care to Bangladeshis for COVID-19 related treatment. During the global transition period, Bangladesh set a brilliant example of brotherhood by transporting Maldivian residents to reach their homeland with the help of BAF as a sign of cooperation. The support from Bangladesh is expected to further strengthen the friendly relations existing between the two countries.
