Dhaka, 31 October 2019: Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) organized a seminar on “Human Empowerment and Attaining Sustainable Development Goals in Bangladesh: The Cases of Women and Marginal Community” on Thrusday (31-10-2019) by the initiative of the Department of Sociology under the Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FASS) at Bijoy Auditorium in the university campus.
In the seminar, Honorable Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, MP, Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad was present as the Chief Guest while Vice Chancellor of BUP Major General Md Emdad-Ul-Bari, ndc, psc, te and Pro-Vice Chancellor of BUP Professor M Abul Kashem Mozumder, PhD were present as the Special Guest. Professor Dr. Monirul Islam Khan, Department of Sociology, University of Dhaka was present as the Keynote Speaker.
Hon’ble Chief Guest focused on Empowerment of women and development of marginalized people are two essential conditions for meeting the sustainable development goals. Ensuring these two issues is a huge challenge along with controlling population growth, poverty alleviation, education for all, medical care for developing countries likes Bangladesh. He stressed on the present situation of our country, the future prospects and the concerted efforts to tackle the crisis.
Brigadier General A K M Iqbal Azim Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FASS) moderated the programme. Moreover, Invited Guests, BUP Officers, Teachers and Students were also present in the seminar.
