Dhaka, 03 March:- Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat, BBP, OSP, ndu, psc along with his spouse and two entourages left Dhaka for Sri Lanka on Wednesday (03-03-2021) on a six-day official visit. He left the country by a C-130J aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force accepting the invitation of Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force Air Marshal SK Pathirana, WWV and Bar, RWP and Bar, RSP and three Bars, VSV, USP, MSc, M Phil, MIM, ndc, psc, qfi on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
During his visit to Sri Lanka, Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force will participate in various events to mark the 70th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force. As a part of the visit, he will take part in a Colour Award Ceremony at the Sri Lanka Air Force Base Katunayake. HE President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa will be present in the ceremony as the Chief Guest. On the occasion, Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force will present a book to the HE President of Sri Lanka titled ‘Unfinished Memories’ written by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a Book Launching Ceremony.
During the visit, Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force will pay courtesy call on the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa, Commander, Pacific Air Forces General Kenneth S. Wilsbach and Secretary, Ministry of Defence of Sri Lanka General G.D.H. Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) and exchange greetings.
He will also call on Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force at the Sri Lanka Air Force Headquarters and exchange views on different issues of bilateral interests. Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force will witness Air Show on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force and will exchange views on professional matters with the Air Chiefs of the participating countries. During his stay in Sri Lanka, Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force will visit important military and civil installations including the Sri Lanka Air Force Museum.
The visit of the Chief of Air Staff will play a vital role for strengthening the existing cordial relationship with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and expand the scope of mutual cooperation in the professional sectors. Besides, the friendly relationship between the Air Forces of both countries will be further strengthened and there will be an opportunity to exchange views on professional matters with the represantatives of the participating countries. It is expected that this visit will create opportunities for BAF to play a vital role in the future development of the defence sector. Mentionble that the Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force is expected to return home on 08 March 2021.
