Dhaka: 28 January 2021: The Graduation Ceremony of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) Course 2020-2021 was held on Thursday (28 -1- 2021) at Sheikh Hasina Complex, DSCSC, Mirpur Cantonment.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and virtually awarded certificates to the graduating officers.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister in her speech congratulated all course participants of Defence Services Command and Staff College Course 2020-2021 for successful completion of the course. She expressed that Year 2020 and 2021 bear special significance in the history of Bangladesh: year 2020 is the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and year 2021 is the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh’s Independence. She mentioned in her speech that Bangladesh always takes due care to enhance friendly relations with all the countries, both regional and across the globe. Despite challenges, Bangladesh has extended her hand to the endangered humanity with limited resources. She expected that graduates of the college with their knowledge, will-power, and enthusiasm will contribute towards a stable, sustainable, self-sufficient and developed Bangladesh and a glorious position in the world. The Hon’ble Prime Minister expressed her wholehearted appreciation to the Commandant and all members of DSCSC for organizing intranet based secured E-learning solution by a low budget innovative process which allowed the training activities of the institute to continue without any interruption even for a single day amid COVID-19 pandemic.
At the very outset, Commandant, DSCSC Major General Md Jubayer Salehin delivered his welcome address. At the begining of the speech he paid deep tribute and homage to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all the freedom fighters who laid down their lives during the war of liberation. He also expressed his profound gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister for her gracious presence and continuous guidance, support and inspiration for the development of the college and the professional growth of the armed forces.
This year, in DSCSC 2020-2021 Course, total 225 officers graduated from Defence Services Command and Staff College that includes 127 officers from Bangladesh Army, 32 officers from Bangladesh Navy, 23 officers from Bangladesh Air Force and 43 overseas officers from 16 countries namely India, Indonesia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone, Central African Republic, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and Uganda. Mentionable that, Defence Services Command and Staff College is a tri-service training institution of Bangladesh Armed Forces. The purpose of this institution is to prepare selected mid-level officers of three services for the assumption of increasing responsibilities both in command and staff appointments. So far 5435 Bangladeshi officers, 05 Police Officers and 1208 overseas officers from 43 friendly countries have graduated from this college.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation the number of guests was limited in the graduation ceremony. The program was live telecast by Bangladesh Television (BTV).
