Dhaka, 13 December 2020: Honourable Prime Minister, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina was the Chief Guest at the graduation ceremony of National Defence Course 2020 and Armed Forces War Course 2020.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister congratulated all course members of National Defense Course – 2020 and Armed Forces War Course – 2020 for successful completion of the courses. He expressed his deep satisfaction about the high standard of National Defence College curricula covering different aspects in pursuance of national security. She expressed her deep satisfaction and thanked Commandant, NDC and all members of NDC for completing course activities by organizing online classes during COVID-19 situation. Highlighting the role of armed forces in nation building, the Hon’ble Prime Minister said that the partnership developed between the people, armed forces and civil services will strengthen further with appropriate knowledge of own people and country. She also appraised Government’s relentless efforts and success in implementing the objectives of liberation war in every sphere of our lives encompassing socio-politics, economy, international relations etc.
Commandant, National Defence College, Lieutenant General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan, SBP, SGP, ndc, afwc, psc, PhD congratulated the graduating members and thanked the faculty members and staff officers of the college for their dedicated efforts in conducting the courses successfully. At the outset, the Commandant paid deep tribute and homage to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all the freedom fighters who laid down their lives during the war of liberation. He also expressed his profound indebtedness and gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister for her gracious presence and for encouraging National Defence College to pursue excellence in security and development studies of Bangladesh.
This year the National Defence Course comprises of thirty one (31) Brigadier Generals from Bangladesh Army, four (04) Commodores and one (01) Captain from Bangladesh Navy, five (05) Air Commodores from Bangladesh Air Force. Beside Armed Forces Officers, two (02) Additional Secretaries, eleven (11) Joint Secretaries from Administration and other cadres of Civil Services, one (01) Director General from Foreign Service and two (02) Deputy Inspector General from Bangladesh Police participated in the course. Twenty five (25) overseas course members of the rank of Colonel/Brigadier General and equivalent from 12 friendly countries have also participated in National Defence Course 2020.
This year the Armed Forces War Course comprised of three (03) Colonels and thirty three (33) Lieutenant Colonels from Bangladesh Army, two (02) Captains and six (06) Commanders from Bangladesh Navy and seven (07) Group Captains and one (01) Wing Commander from Bangladesh Air Force.
